about

After spending months being tortured by The Octopus Queen, The Traveler begins to fight back by mentally cutting himself off from his captor. He goes into a kind of black out state that allows him to slowly but surely get free of the tendrils holding him down and he begins to swim to surface. As the form of the Octopus Queen is left in the deep, he notices something he hasn't seen in a long time... The sun's rays on the surface of the water. There is no one there to help him against the treachery of the open ocean, so he fights to swim before anything else might drag him down

Conceptually, I wanted to create an album that explores the idea of breaking free from your oppressor, and what effect that would have on a person. It can't be downplayed how a bad situation can become comforting because of it's repetitive nature, and how we need to find it within ourselves to take the first steps to getting into a better and healthier environment
